Skandal!

Starsi geje pamiętają jeszcze "nagonkę" polskiej służby bezpieczeństwa, zwaną wtedy "akcja hiacynt". Polegało to na gromadzeniu informacji o naszym środowisku, w celu wyłączania niebezpiecznych dla komunistycznego rządku osób.



Po upadku komunizmu akta te miały zostać zniszczone, o czym zapewniała polska policja. Obietnica ta nie została najwidoczniej dotrzymana, o czym poinformowany został m. in. prezydent Kwaśniewski oraz premier Buzek przez polskich działaczy gejowskich: Jarosława Endera, Sławka Starostę, Krzysztofa Garwatowskiego oraz Ygę Kostrzewę.



A oto tekst podpisanego przez wyżej wymienione osoby listu otwartego:



"Files on gays in police archives in Poland.



Despite declarations of Polish authorities, personal files on homosexuals

(collected until 1989) had not been destroyed yet. These archives still

exist and are being used even now.



During the rule of communistic regime Peoples Militia’s (now Police)

activity was not limited to fighting crime; it focused mainly on

invigilation of Polish citizens and gathering materials that could be used

for blackmailing opposition and „convincing” its representatives to

collaboration with government (materials on homosexual activities were

especially >>appreciated
These actions were totally illegal and unlawful.



With the fall of the old system (1989) those archives should be destroyed

(files on homosexuals, as well as those on private lives of all Polish

citizens).

According to Marek Nowicki, president of Helsinki Fund, in the early

nineties his organisation got assurance from the representatives of Polish

police and Ministry of Internal Affairs that the archives had already been

destroyed. Similar, official assurance was issued to Lambda Group in 1993.

Unfortunately, just recently, turned out that those declarations were not

exactly the truth.

During the process of clarification of the politicians, those files surfaced

and the information that they contain were supplied to representatives of

Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.



The fact that those files still exist and are being used is a violation of

Polish Constitution and Human Rights Convention.

Because of this representatives of gay groups and organisations issued

official letter to the President, Prime Minister and The Speaker of the Sejm

demanding immediate destruction of those archives.
